OUR IN-HOUSE WORKSHOP
Since opening in 1760, Gatwards of Hitchin have provided an exceptional repair & remodeling service to countless pieces of much-loved jewellery.
Charlotte, the eighth generation of the Gatwards family, launched our in-house workshop in 2019. Now, with our fully equipped workshop, the majority of our jewellery repairs and remodeling are carried out here on the premises at Gatwards. All completed by our talented & experienced, resident goldsmith.

After leaving school, I completed a 5 year apprenticeship & have worked for the last 30 years for some great establishments in London, Hertfordshire & Essex.
I love the variation of the work at Gatwards and the satisfaction of bringing old jewellery back to its former glory.”

ANDREW - WORKSHOP COORDINATOR
Andrew has coordinated all of our repairs since joining Gatwards in 2017 & has overseen the development of our in-house workshop.
Andrew's degree in archaeology led him to an interest in metal work which has grown into a passion for precious metals and bespoke jewellery.
He orchestrates our bespoke work including CAD design & assesses all work undertaken by Gatwards to ensure everything passes our strict quality control procedures.
REPAIRS
If you have a piece of jewellery needing some attention, our goldsmith can assess it in our in-house workshop. Each repair is costed individually, & we can give you an estimate for the timescale to carry out the repair. Some repairs can even be carried out same day, depending on availability.
REMODELLING
Jewellery repairs and remodelling are carried out by our experienced and talented in-house goldsmith. Breathe new life into old jewellery & discuss all options available with our experienced team of consultants.
CLEAN & POLISH SERVICE
Bring back the sparkle with a professional clean and polish, carried out in-house by our goldsmith. Rhodium plating is also available & can be carried out same day depending on availability.
